Mud Witch and Matcha Sculpture Workshop

Create your own chawan (Japanese tea bowl) and matcha whisk at this workshop with artist Viviana Matsuda of ceramics company Mud Witch. Your ticket includes museum general admission, workshop supplies, and a matcha latte! ($30 members, $50 non-members)

Your creation will be glazed and fired offsite and will be available for pick-up at the museum after the workshop (date TBD). 

About the Artist

  Viviana Matsuda is a queer Japanese/Mexican artist from San Francisco. When her ceramicist father passed away and Matsuda received his pottery materials, she took a ceramics class as a creative outlet to work through her grief. “Using only my hands to turn earth was therapeutic,” says the artist. “I spent hours making all sorts of random forms with no intentions. Some are chubby like me and have uneven curves; whether colorful, smooth, rough, or freckled, all are beautiful in their diversity.” Matsuda’s thriving pottery production business Mud Witch now employs a small team.
